Bruce Bochy – His New York Mets Career 1982

bruce-bochyCatcher Bruce Bochy was acquired from the Houston Astros on February 11, 1981.  He spent the entire 1981 season playing for the Tidewater Tides, the Mets Triple A affiliate where he hit .227.  He returned to Tidewater in 1982 where he played most of the season before being called up to the Mets in August.

Bochy made his Mets debut on August 21against the Atlanta Braves as their starting catcher, he went 1 for 2 at the plate.  He finished out the season with the Mets appearing in 16 games. He hit .306 with 2 home runs and 8 RBIs. 

Following the season, he was released by the Mets and eventually signed with the San Diego Padres where he finished out his playing career.

While with the Mets Bochy wore number 9.

San Diego Padres – 1983-1987
