With a name like Broadway it only seemed natural that he would one day pitch in New York. But unfortunately, Lance’s tenure with the Mets was not the stuff of dreams.
Following his acquisition from the Chicago White Sox on May 30, 2009 in exchange for Ramon Castro, Lance Broadway reported to the Buffalo Bisons, the Mets top minor league club. In 16 games for the Bisons, 14 as a starter, Broadway won 5 and lost 7.
In his Mets debut on August 29 Broadway allowed 2 runs over 3 innings of relief in the Mets 11-4 loss to the Chicago Cubs. Things would not get much better for Broadway; he would earn no decisions in 8 relief appearances while posting a 6.75 ERA in 14 2/3 innings over the final month of the season.
Following the season Broadway signed as a free agent with Toronto Blue Jays.
While with the Mets Broadway wore number 35.
Lance Broadway also played for the Chicago White Sox from 2007-2009.
