Karim Garcia – His New York Mets Career 2004

karim-garciaKarim Garcia, a 9-year veteran, signed as a free agent with the Mets on January 20, 2004.  He made his Met debut as their opening day right fielder, he went 1-5 in the Mets 7-2 victory over the Atlanta Braves.

He would appear in 62 games for the Mets before they traded him to the Baltimore Orioles on July 19 in exchange for pitcher Mike De Jean. While with the Mets Garcia mainly platooned with Richard Hidalgo in right field hitting .234 with 7 home runs and 22 RBIs.

His most productive game with the Mets came on May 30 against the Florida Marlins, he hit a two run home run and drove in 3 runs in the Mets 8-6 loss.

While with the Mets Garcia wore number 20.
