The Mets signed right-handed pitcher Brian Lawrence on May 9, 2007. Prior to joining the Mets Lawrence had pitched five seasons for the San Diego Padres before arm injuries sidetracked his career.
After signing with the Mets Lawrence initially reported to the minors before making his Mets debut on August 2. In his first big league appearance in over a year Lawrence gave up 3 runs over 5 innings to earn the victory. Lawrence would start 5 more games for the Mets posting a 1-2 record with a 6.83 ERA.
Following the season Lawrence left the Mets as a free agent and signed with the Kansas City Royals. He bounced around the minors for four seasons before retiring in the middle of the 2011 season.
While with the Mets Lawrence wore number 54.
Brian Lawrence also played for the San Diego Padres from 2001-2005.
