The Mets acquired outfielder Mark Little from the Colorado Rockies along with John Thomson in exchange for Jay Payton, Mark Corey and Robert Stratton on July 31, 2002. He made his Met debut the next day against the Houston Astros pinch hitting for pitcher Pedro Astacio, he grounded out to the pitcher. Little made two more appearances for the Mets before he was once again traded. On August 16, he was traded to the Arizona Diamondbacks for P.J. Bevins. In his brief Met career, he went 0 for 3.
