The New York Mets signed right-handed pitcher David Aardsma to a minor league contract on May 20, 2013. After posting a 1.12 ERA in 8 games for the Las Vegas 51s, the Mets Triple-A affiliate, Aardsma made his Mets debut on June 8. In a game the Mets would lose in 20 innings, Aardsma pitched 1 inning of scoreless relief.
David Aardsma would appear in 43 games out of the Mets bullpen in 2013 posting a 2-2 record with a 4.31 ERA. He earned his first win as a Met on July 1 by pitching the final 2 innings in the Mets 5-4 13 inning victory over the Arizona Diamondbacks.
Following the season David Aardsma opted for free agency and signed with the Cleveland Indians.
