Abraham Nunez – His New York Mets Career 2008

Following his release by the Milwaukee Brewers the Mets signed Abraham Nunez on May 19, 2008.  The eleven-year veteran infielder made his Met debut on June 5 as a pinch hitter for pitcher Joe Smith and grounded out to shortstop.  Three days later he made another appearance as a pinch hitter flying out to shortstop for pitcher Claudio Vargas.  It would be his last appearance in a Mets uniform; in fact, it would be his last appearance in a Major League uniform.  Following the game, he was sent down to the minors where he finished out the season.

Nunez was granted free agency following the season and signed with the Arizona Diamondbacks but did not make it back to the majors and retired following the 2009 season.

While with the Mets Nunez wore number 6.

Abraham Nunez also played for the following teams:
Pittsburgh Pirates – 1997-2004
St. Louis Cardinals – 2005
Philadelphia Phillies – 2006,2007
