Chris Aguila who had played parts of three seasons with the Florida Marlins was signed by the Mets as a free agent prior to the 2008 season.
After starting the season in the minors, he made his Mets debut on June 11, 2008 when he replaced Marlon Anderson in left field in the top of the 9th inning. In the bottom of the inning he singled in his first at bat as a Met. Aguila would play in just 8 games for the Mets hitting .167 (2 for 12) before being sent back to Triple A New Orleans where he finished out the season. Following the 2008 season Aguila left the Mets to play ball in Japan.
