David Newhan – His New York Mets Career 2007

David NewhanThe Mets signed David Newhan as a free agent prior to the 2007 season to serve as a utility player and pinch hitter.  After getting a hit in his first at bat as a Met on Opening Day he struggled at the plate.  With his average at .200 he was sent down to the minors in the middle of June.  After a month playing for the New Orleans Zephyrs, the Mets top minor league club, he was brought back up to New York.  But once again struggled at the plate and was once again sent down to New Orleans.  He was brought back up in September to finish out the season.  Following the season, he refused another assignment to the minors and was granted free agency and signed with the Houston Astros.

In his only season with the Mets Newhan hit just .203 with just one home run and six RBIs.
