The Mets acquired outfielder Jim Dwyer along with Pepe Mangual from the Montreal Expos on July 21, 1976 in exchange for Wayne Garrett and Del Unser. Dwyer made his Met debut on July 23rd as a pinch hitter for Bud Harrelson and singled. He would go on to appear in 11 games for the Mets, mostly as a pinch hitter and batted .154 (2 for 13).
Following the season Dwyer was involved in a three-team trade that saw him wind up with the Chicago Cubs.
While with the Mets Dwyer wore number 25.
