The Mets signed left-handed pitcher Rich Sauveur as a free agent on January 22, 1991. After starting the season in the minors, he made his Met debut on June 5, 1991 against the Cincinnati Reds. He pitched one inning of scoreless relief in the Mets 11-10 loss. He made 5 more appearances pitching a total of 3 1/3 innings and posted a 10.80 ERA before being sent back to the minors where he spent the remainder of the season. The Mets released him on January 23, 1992.
