The Mets claimed infielder Junior Noboa off waivers from the Montreal Expos on October 8, 1991. He made his Met debut on Opening Day 1992 as a late inning defensive replacement and struck out in his only plate appearance. He would go on to appear 46 games for the Mets, mainly as a pinch hitter and defensive replacement, playing 2nd, 3rd and shortstop, before being demoted to the minors at the end of July. At the time of his demotion he was hitting just .149 with 3 RBIs.
1992 would be Noboa’s only season with the Mets, as he signed with the Cincinnati Reds as a free agent following the season.
While with the Mets Noboa wore number 3.
Junior Noboa also played for the following teams:
Cleveland Indians – 1984,1987
California Angels – 1988
Montreal Expos – 1989-1991
Oakland A’s = 1994
Pittsburgh Pirates – 1994
